RALEIGH, NC - The National Hockey League today released the 2018-19 regular-season schedules for its 31 member clubs. The Carolina Hurricanes will open the season at home on Thursday, Oct. 4, against the New York Islanders.

Features of the Hurricanes' 2018-19 regular-season schedule:

OPENING AT HOME: For the second consecutive season, the Hurricanes will begin the season on home ice, hosting the New York Islanders on Oct. 4 at PNC Arena.
WORKIN' FOR THE WEEKEND: Carolina will play 27 of its 41 home games at PNC Arena on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
BACK-TO-BACK: The Hurricanes will play 17 sets of back-to-back games in 2018-19, one fewer than last season.
MAKING A STAND: Carolina's home schedule features five homestands of three games or longer, including a season-long six-game homestand from Nov. 10 to Nov. 23.
TAKING A BREAK: The Hurricanes will enjoy their bye week from Jan. 27 - 31, directly following the NHL All-Star break from Jan. 24 - 26. With the two breaks occurring consecutively, Carolina will have an eight-day gap between games.
THE CHAMPS ARE HERE: Carolina will face the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals for the first time on Dec. 14 at PNC Arena. The Hurricanes and Capitals will play four times in 2018-19.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Hurricanes road schedule features seven road trips of three games or longer, including a season-long five-game road trip from Feb. 5 to Feb. 12.
