The Durham Nativity School was a 2015 GOAL (Growing Opportunities and Leaders) Grant recipient of the Kids 'N Community Foundation, awarded $150,000 over three years to create a fifth grade at the school. The school aims to educate and empower each child to reach their full potential. Without regard to race, religion or ethnicity, the school accepts boys who have the ability and commitment to achieve, yet lack the resources to attend a quality, independent school. The Durham Nativity School commits 12 years of support to its students, including high school and college advising and educational support. There is a rigorous application and interview process for students to be admitted to the school, which currently has an enrollment of 56 students.
The Carolina Hurricanes Kids 'N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children's charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. The Kids 'N Community Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children's health programs, the arts and other children's related initiatives. During the 2015-16 season, the Kids 'N Community Foundation donated $575,000 in grant monies to 27 North Carolina children's non-profit organizations. Every member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in community related activities and the Hurricanes take great pride in the ability to have a positive impact in our state.
